STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) ? A person with knowledge of the decision says former Penn State kicker Anthony Fera is enrolling at Texas to play for the Longhorns this season.
Penn State announced Thursday that Fera was no longer with the Nittany Lions. Fera has submitted paperwork at Texas and is awaiting formal enrollment, according to the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because Texas has not yet announced the move.
The junior was one of the top specialists in the Big Ten after hitting 14 of 17 field goals last season and averaging 42 yards on punts.
Six players have left Penn State this week in the wake of the NCAA penalties stemming from Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse scandal, including a four-year postseason ban and significant scholarship reductions. A seventh is no longer on the roster.
Fera is from the Houston area.
