For many cats, worms are a recurring problem. Roundworms, tapeworms in cats, and hookworms most commonly infect cats. Cats can occasionally develop heartworms, as well.
Heartworms in cats are transmitted via a mosquito bite while cat roundworm is an intestinal parasite that is common in cats.If your cat seems unable to gain weight, is infested with fleas, or has white specks that look like grains of rice in his stools, take him to the veterinarian for worm testing.Worms are easily cured with a few doses of medication, but if left untreated, they can be fatal.
The roundworm larvae migrates through the body tissues, eventually reaching the lungs where they make their way to the cat?s windpipe. They are then coughed up and eventually swallowed. Once swallowed, the larvae then becomes the adult roundworm. There are lots of roundworm and tapeworm medicines for cats.
